Maryland for Kids
Joining the Fathers' Club (FC) is easy. The club is open to all adult males 21 years old and greater. Simply come to a meeting with the $1 annual dues and you are in. We meet the second Tuesday of each month generally. During the meetings, we discuss all activities we currently have underway and open the floor for any new ideas. Occasionally we will do some light work, painting, cleaning, etc. As far as what the FC does, we raise money to provide minor funds to the school for the benefit of the children. The televisions and VCRs are from the Fathers' Club. We are providing ceiling fans in the classrooms. In the spring for the past few years, we have had a "Family Dance" for the children and parents. We are a LEARN sponsor. This year by a special request from the school board, the FC will contribute $ 5000 to the general fund for the school budget. These are a few of the current projects of the FC. We have done some big things in the past as well like the stage and bar area. To raise the funds to accomplish these projects, we conduct several fund raisers through the year. Most of our events target people outside the school family. 2 Night at the Races, February Sweetheart Dance, 3 month long raffles based on the lottery, and a Fathers Day raffle are our normal fund raisers. This year we added a Vegas Night that was very successful. As you can see, we are very busy and would very much welcome new members with energy and fresh ideas to add to our organization.
